Lisa Zheutlin is a writer, producer, and sketch/character/improv/stand-up comedian based in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in Boca Raton, Florida and would like that information to surprise you. Lisa holds a B.A. from Amherst College in Sexuality, Women’s and Gender Studies and Art & the History of Art, with a Five College Consortium certificate in Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice. At Amherst College, she received the Stonewall Prize, Phi Beta Kappa, and the Lane Fellowship for Creative Artists for her honors thesis “Reimagining Relationality: the Anti-Monogamy Framework.” Her earnest writing draws on queer feminist theory to question the societal privileging of romantic love and reprioritize platonic love. She is currently pitching articles as a freelance writer.
After graduating college, Lisa worked production at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. She is currently a headline contributor at Reductress and her satire writing has been featured in McSweeney’s, Points in Case, and The Belladonna. She regularly produces and performs with her sketch group Girl Mountain, as seen in New York Comedy Fest, Knockouts Festival, and DC Sketch Fest. If you want to see her go off script, she does improv comedy with two indie teams called Doppelgängers and Dance Bob and hosts a bi-weekly character open mic called Character Assassination. Lisa performs all around the city, including the Bell House, Stand-Up NY, Brooklyn Comedy Collective, Upright Citizen’s Brigade, People’s Improv Theater, and in casual conversation.
But enough about her! How are you doing?
